I was invited to attend a local inaugural event for Oakland’s newly elected Mayor Ron Dellums. I was very moved by the comfort that people felt in speaking with Dellums. I have covered several election events, and I am always struck by the hope that people feel for leaders, the good will and moving desire for the newly elected to fulfill all the unresolved promises of all the politicians that came before.
